Mrs. Barbara “Bobbie” Ann New, age 79, of Lagrange, Georgia, formerly of Dahlonega, passed away on May 14, 2024. She was born in Dahlonega on October 27, 1944, to the late Thomas Lance and the late Lorene Ferguson Lance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William New, and her brother, Charles Lance.

Bobbie is survived by her children, Cindi (Ronnie) Dunn, Lynn (Richard) Morgan, and Michael (Elaine) New; grandchildren Colby Sanford, Shelby Christian, Savannah Venable, Grace Dunn, David Dunn, David Pollard, Dalton Pollard, Emma New, and Macy New; and great-grandchildren Beau Sanford, Katie Christian, Kai Christian, Parker Venable, Hunter Venable, and Sara Lynn Pollard.

Bobbie was the epitome of thoughtfulness and generosity, embodying the essence of kindness in all her interactions. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of everyone she encountered. A native of Dahlonega, she embarked on her journey as a young woman, moving to Atlanta at the age of 18 to carve her path in life. There, she established a loving family and pursued a career at the phone company, where she dedicated 37 years of service. Her independence and unwavering determination earned her the admiration of all who knew her. Bobbie possessed a resilience and strength of character that defined her—a true embodiment of “true grit.”

Funeral services to honor and celebrate Bobbie’s life will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Blackstock officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Hightower Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
