Mr. Gerald James Hill, age 47, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. He was born on February 3, 1974 in Gainesville, Georgia to Rosa Gilleland Hill. Gerald was of the Baptist faith and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and loved participating in the Special Olympics. 

Gerald sure loved football and the Atlanta Falcons. He watched all of the games and could tell you anything about them. He also loved music, cruising the town listening to music, shopping, and animals. He especially loved taking walks with his mom. Gerald loved people and never met a stranger. He could brighten up anyone’s day with that big smile. Gerald was a special gift given to his family from God. His family loved him very much and cared for him for all of his 47 years. The family was blessed to be loved by him. 

He is preceded in death by his brother, William Grizzle; grandparents, Sam Gilleland and Chester Gilleland.

He is survived by his mother, Rosa Hill of Dahlonega; siblings, Stanley Grizzle of Winder, Dennis Grizzle of TN, Danny Grizzle of Gainesville, and Janice Whelchel (Ray Bittner) of Gainesville; nieces and nephews, John Grizzle, TJ Grizzle, Jessica (David) Pritchett, Elisha (Caleb) Kinsey and Alex Grizzle; great-nieces, Veronica Pritchett, Layken Pritchett and Harper Kinsey; special cousins, Shirley Hamby and Jean Stancil; and special Uncle George Gilleland. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and special friends.

It was Mr. Hill’s wishes to be cremated. Inurnment will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the cemetery of Cane Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Passmore officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, St. Jude Hospital, or to the Special Olympics in Gerald’s memory. 

Gerald’s family would like to say “Thank You” to the staff of Northeast Georgia Hospice. They will forever be grateful for the love, care and support given to Gerald by his nurses, friends and family.
