Charles Ray Taylor, 64, passed in peace Thursday, September 9, 2021. Born and raised in Sweetwater, TN, the son of Earl and Bernice Taylor, he was a lifelong resident of Dahlonega. After serving in the U.S. Army, he went on to retire from Lockheed Martin Corporation. Following his retirement, he became a self-employed residential and commercial electrical contractor.

Ray was a jack-of-all-trades if you will. His many passions included vintage cars, woodworking, his electrical business, and hunting and fishing. Nothing however compared to his immense love of all things “cowboy”. He was a true gentleman who followed the Cowboy Code and proclaimed that he was born in the wrong era. Ray thought he was better suited to have lived amongst the Doc Hollidays and the Wyatt Earps in the Wild West.

An avid storyteller, this man had experienced so much in his time with us that he had a story that would coincide with about any situation you would find yourself in. He had either “been there done that” or knew a guy who knew a guy who had. Ray was always up for whatever adventures lay ahead. Much like the cowboys he admired so much, he was willing and ready for anything. From horseback riding to rod runs, to sitting with you while you got your hair done; he would be there. In the words of the late Doc Holliday, “there’s no normal life, there’s just life”. Ray sure made the most of every day!

Loved ones that cleared the path for Ray are his grandfather and grandmother Buck and Eva Raines; his first wife Maria Taylor; and his grandson Trevor Gibson.

Loved ones who will miss Ray until they meet again are his wife Sue Stephens Taylor; his daughter Krystal Presley; his mother Bernice Raines Taylor; his brothers and sisters-in-law Edward and Paula Taylor, Wayne and Courtney Taylor, and Allen and Donna Taylor; his sister and brother-in-law Donna and Mike Evans; his grandchildren Naomi Blanck, Faith Blanck, Dakota Halte, and Joseph Howard; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and friends.

And so the story goes on until we see Ray again…

We love you a whole bunch of dirt and rocks.
