Mr. Alfred Gail McCutchen, age 84, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away on July 21, 2021. He was born on January 6, 1937 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Montie and Lee McCutchen. Alfred was always fascinated by airplanes and even piloted a few in his younger years. Every year he would purchase airplane calendars to give away to his family and friends. Giving was something he was passionate about doing and he did it up until his last days. When he was working at Walmart he would often keep silver dollars in his pocket to give to kids. He would do anything he could to put a smile on someone’s face. He was a strong man of faith and was never shy of that. He led many people through trying times by praying with them. He was the rock of the family and the true definition of a family man. He was a great role model and a father figure to many. When time allowed Alfred enjoyed fishing and tending to his garden where he grew Lumpkin County’s tastiest tomatoes.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Louise McCutchen; brother, David McCutchen; and daughter, Cindy Horan.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Equivel Lopez of Dahlonega; brother, Bruce (Kitty) McCutchen of Frankfort, KY; sister, Lytha (Daniel) Hughes of Somerset, KY; grandchildren, Anita Equivel Lopez, Codah Guerra, Nicole Reams, and Katelyn Roys; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Many friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held by Hickey Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
