(Cleveland)- Mountain Education Charter High School in White County has announced their campus Teacher and Employee of the Year for 22/23.

Teacher of the Year is Terri Walker. Our Employee of the Year is Ellen Gann.

Ellen has been a mentor with MECHS and was recently named a counselor at the school.

Terri is a Special Education teacher with MECHS. She is an inspiration to all of the
students and staff and has a true heart for working with students. Kim Wilkes, a MECHS teacher
says, “Terri has dedicated her teaching career to ensuring her students feel empowered to
become lifelong learners.”

Gary Nunnally, a MECHS teacher says, “Terri has compassion for her
students. The students she works with truly become her `children` as she pours her heart into
each and every one of them. She cares for them in all aspects academically, physically, and
emotionally.”

Neal Young, MECHS Principal says, “Terri is always willing to go the extra mile to
help any of the students at MECHS White Campus. She works very hard at her job and builds
lasting relationships with the students. We are lucky to have her on staff at MECHS.”

Ellen has been a dedicated mentor to our students. In March, she became a welcome
addition to the counseling office since joining in March. Counselor Renee Gerrells says, “I am
excited to be working with her.” Ellen says, “Many of our students are former students from my
days as the counselor of Mossy Creek Elementary School. One of the greatest rewards in the field
of education is reconnecting with previous students.” Social Worker Denise Suggs says, “Ellen
works well with our students. She cares a lot about making sure our students get what they need
to succeed.”

Jake Cantrell, MECHS Principal says, “Ellen Gann has been a tremendous addition to
our school. She always looks for and finds the absolute best in our students and finds a way to relate
and motivate them toward their goals. She has many attributes that would be considered
strengths but the one that I am the most impressed by is her heart in caring for our students.”

Don Long, Team Leader says, “Ellen makes a difference in the lives of everyone she meets and
works with – a true lady and blessing for all who have the honor of knowing her. She makes an
impact on all our students and staff.”
