(Cleveland)- White County School officials have announced more details about the opening of schools this fall.  Superintend  Dr. Laurie Burkett released a 23-page “Resource Guide”  Wednesday highlighting the plan that they are still fine-tuning for the new school year.

Dr. Burkett says in response to feedback from our community we will be offering two instructional models for the 2020-21 school year, traditional face –to face and digital distance learning.  The school year for teachers and staff will begin on August 3, and students will return on August 14.  The August 14th start date for students is a change from the earlier approved calendar.

According to Burkett, the reopening plan reflects guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Georgia Department of Education (GADOE), state and local health officials, and input from the community.

She says as we approach the start of a new year, our team is emphasizing flexibility while still maintaining high-quality educational opportunities for all students. Information is rapidly changing and we are doing our best to prepare for the upcoming year with the information we have available at this time.

The resource guide includes information on Food Service, Transportation, Enhanced Safety, Athletic and Extracurricular Activities.
