White County Public Safety Director David Murphy administers the oath to Fire Chief Mike Lefevre

(Cleveland)- White County’s new Fire Service Chief Mike LeFevre was administered his oath of office Wednesday.  White County Public Safety Director David Murphy said prior to the ceremony, at the White County Emergency Operations Center, said it’s their goal to give recognition to the staff for what they do. 

Even though he is assuming the position of Division Chief, Lefevre has been working with the department part-time since 2017.  Following the oath administered by Director Murphy,  Lefever’s wife Kathy joined Murphy in placing service pins on the new chief’s uniform.

Lefevre told reporters after the ceremony that his goal is to be ahead of the curve in dealing with growth in the county, “ we were built on solid rock, any foundation if you’ve got a solid foundation, and we have that here Director Murphy and some of the other chief’s that were here really laid a great foundation for me to build on,” said Lefevre.  

Lefevre said receiving the support of the White County Board of Commissioners is reassuring to him as he serves in this role. “ They love the citizens, they love the people here so they have a heart for making sure they are taken care of and that’s what we do we are here to take a person that maybe having the worst day of their life and try to make it better,” commented Lefevre.

On hand for the ceremony were members of LeFever’s family, fellow public service agency employees from White County and the Cities of Cleveland and Helen, and county officials.

LeFevre is a member of the Christian gospel music group, The LeFevre Quartet. The group was formed in 2005 and has been a staple on the gospel music circuit since. Mike LeFevre and his son, Jordan, recently announced their group’s retirement from full-time ministry.
