Lee Roy Poole, age 78, of Mount Airy, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 7, 2020.

Born on November 24, 1941 in Banks County, Georgia, he was the son of late Jewell and Jannie Parson Poole. Mr. Poole was a member of the Hazel Creek Baptist Church. Lee Roy had a passion for wood working over the years, he made furniture, cabinets and many more pieces; he did this for not only a career, but a hobby as well to gift his work to others. Lee Roy loved all kinds of gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known to his grandchildren as “Grandpa”.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Winnie Gulley Poole, of Mt. Airy; daughter, Janet Poole McGuire, of Sugar Grove, NC; son, Randall Poole, of Hoschton; sisters, Annette Cape, of Gillsville; Charlotte Parks, of Gillsville; brother, Ralph Poole, of Gillsville; grandchildren, Wil McGuire, Nicholas McGuire, Alex McGuire; and one great-grandson, Oliver McGuire.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Trent Smith and Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m., to 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the funeral home prior to the service.
