(COLUMBIA, S.C. ) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women’s volleyball team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up hosted by Columbia College, where the Lady Bears were featured besting the Koalas, 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 26-24, 25-20). TMU rises to an overall record of 11-15, 8-8 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
Set one saw the Koalas first to score with TMU quickly responding with a kill by Emma Boland. Both teams battled back and forth for the early lead when a four-point rally by TMU, featuring a kill by Katie Williams, pushed the Lady Bears ahead. Kills by Faith ClarksonElizabeth Franklin and Sameily Marquez, continued to keep the momentum rolling when a final serving ace by Camille Godfrey sealed the deal on a set one win, 25-19. In set two, CC was first up scoring three consecutive points. TMU did not falter, recording a six-point rally of their own, featuring a kill by Faith Clarkson and two service aces by Deomi Valmus. Both teams continue to fight for the lead, when a three-point rally by CC changed the momentum of the set. Two service errors by the Koalas threatened to take away CC lead but was not enough as the Koalas took set two, 25-23.

In set three, the Lady Bears were first on the board with a kill by Clarkson. A four-point rally by the Lady Bears, featuring kills by Boland and Williams, continued to push TMU forward attempting to overwhelm the home team. Late rallies by the Koalas threatened to take away from the Lady Bears led but was ultimately not enough to change a Lady Bears set win, 26-24. In the final set, TMU held firm as good defense by the Lady Bears kept CC at bay. Kills by Franklin, Jordan Roberts and Marquez, continued to add to the Lady Bears lead as TMU worked together to record the match win. A final kill by Williams ultimately sealed the deal with a final score of 25-20.

LEADERS
Clarkson led the way with 11 kills and two serving aces. Franklin followed with nine kills, while Williams had eight kills and two solo blocks. Roberts was featured recording six kills while Boland recorded 21 assists and Caroline Yeager had 14 assists.

The Lady Bears will travel to Laurinburg, N.C. on Tuesday, October 29 to take on AAC opponent St. Andrews University. Match time set for 6:30 p.m.
