Karen Joy Sloan Trousdale, age 64, of Sautee-Nacoochee, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020.

Born on June 16, 1956, in Scottsboro, Alabama, she was the daughter of Jimmy Sloan of Bridgeport, Alabama, and Mary Edith Barfield Sloan of New Hope, Alabama. Mrs. Trousdale attended Hollywood Junior High School in Hollywood, Alabama where she was a cheerleader. Later, she and her husband, Bob, moved to Florida for a number of years where she was a utility operator for Clay County Utility Authority and for the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida.

In July of 2002, she and Bob relocated to Habersham County where she operated the water plant for the City of Baldwin. She also became involved with the Grant Reeves VFW Post # 7720 where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

In her spare time, Mrs. Trousdale enjoyed sewing, crafts, art, camping, and learning about her Native American ancestry. In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Dean “Bob” Trousdale of Sautee-Nacoochee; daughter, Lyda Maureen Seiler of Orange Park, Florida; stepson, Patrick Shane Trousdale of Florence, Alabama; stepdaughter, Cynthia Renee Collier of Tuscumbia, Alabama; brothers, Jimmy Bruce Sloan of New Hope, Alabama, David Johnson Sloan of Grant, Alabama and Matthew Lee Sloan of Jackson County, Alabama; sister, Mary Linda Sloan of Huntsville, Alabama; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial graveside services are 2 pm on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at the VFW Memorial Park Cemetery in Demorest, with Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.
