(Atlanta)- New labor department figures were released Thursday by the Georgia Department of Labor. It shows that the July Preliminary Unemployment Rate was 2.9 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from the revised June rate. One year ago the rate was 2.2 percent.
The labor department said in July the labor force in White County in July was 17,907, with 17,390 employed and 517 unemployed.
White County’s unemployment rate is one of the lowest in Northeast Georgia, Banks County also had a rate of 2.9 while Jackson County’s unemployment rate was 2.6 percent.
