Judy Denise Burney Hightower, age 59 of Homer, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

Born in Orlando, Florida on July 22, 1960 she was a daughter of Bernice Messer Burney of Orlando, Florida and the late Hayward Burney. Mrs. Hightower was a Correctional Officer with Lee Arrendale State Prison for a number of years. She loved her family and grandchildren, was a nature lover, enjoyed camping and spending time at the beach.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen P. Hightower; sister, Pamela Jackson.

In addition to her mother, surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Michael & Jennifer Hightower of Carrabelle, Florida, Josh Hightower of Homer; daughter, Lilith Hightower of Lula; grandchildren, Alexus Lynn Mort, Laura Hightower, Stephen Hightower, Nathan Hightower; great grandchild, Vladimir Brock; brother, Larry Burney of Lake Wales, Florida; sisters, Debbie Burney, Regina Burney and Cindy Burney all of Orlando, Florida; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm, Monday, June 22, 2020 at Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Shannon Irvin and Pastor Donald Grizzle officiating. Services will be live streamed for anyone that cannot attend.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
