(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University women’s lacrosse team announced Sheena Johnson as the new head women’s lacrosse coach, effective July 21. Johnson will be working alongside Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach Dani Westmoreland.

“I’m really excited to work alongside Coach Johnson here at Truett and help expand the game of lacrosse in Georgia,” said Coach Westmoreland.

Between 2015-2017, Johnson was a collegiate athlete at King University and continued to further her athletic career by playing at Mars Hill University 2017-2019.

Johnson is very familiar with the Appalachian Athletic Conference and the schools that reside from her experience with Brenau University in 2019-2020 as an assistant coach.

Johnson earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science from Mars Hill University in 2019, and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration at Truett McConnell University.

“I am honored and excited to begin building this program into something that the university, athletic department, community, coaches, and players can all take pride in,” said Johnson. “We will be relentless in our efforts to foster an environment of spiritual, personal, and athletic growth. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this program.”

Westmoreland is entering into her third year as the assistant women’s lacrosse coach, where she has played a major part in the growth and success of the program. Westmoreland was capable of leading the Lady Bears, alongside the rest of the TMU lacrosse staff, to their most historical season in 2021, where they finished the season with the best record in program history (4-5, 4-4 AAC), and earned the program’s first-ever ticket to the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament.
