Jessie Lee Collins Grizzle, age 94, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on September 8, 2024. She was born on May 9, 1930, in Dahlonega to the late Johnnie and Nettie Collins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Hubert P. Grizzle and siblings Bessie Grizzle, Kathy Royster, and J.D. Collins.
She is survived by her children, C.L. (Sue) Grizzle, Joan (Alan) McDonald, Debbie (Stanley) Eaton, all of Dahlonega; grandchildren Chris (Amanda) McDonald, Casie (Justin) Jennings, Heather Popham, Jeremy (Rikki Lynn) Eaton; siblings C.F. (Geraldine) Collins, Bonnell Davis, Betty Jarrard, Ann (Bill) Lawson, Barbara (Walter) Norrell, and Hazel Norrell; special friend, Maxine Rider, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive.
Jessie Lee was known for her quilting and homemade fried apple pies. She always told everyone about frying enough pies to pay for a trip to Hawaii. She spent many hours with her cousin, Maxine Ricketts, working on beautiful quilts. She also looked forward to her great nephew, John Collins Herrick, checking in on her and carrying her trash off.
She had a great love for the outdoors. In the summer, she kept her yard and flowers all groomed with the help of her sister-in-law,
Geraldine Collins. She will forever be missed by all that knew her.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00AM in the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Tony Allison and the Rev. Allen Swofford will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem-Jones Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 5:00PM – 8:00PM.
