(Cleveland)- Monday, March 29th,  is National Vietnam War Veterans Day, a special day of remembrance signed into law by President Donald Trump in 2017. 

Saturday a large crowd gathered at Freedom Park in Cleveland to pay special recognition to and honor those who served during this special time.

During the observance, a  presentation of the “ Quilt of Valor” was presented to White County veteran Chief Warrant Officer 4 retired, Paul Kozoroz, who served in the Navy.  The presentation was made by Karen Trombley, State of Georgia Quilts of Valor Coordinator, and Rebecca Hill Zuercher, Quilt of Valor, Clarkesville, Tn.  along with Ron Hill with the Sons of the American Revolution.

Kozoroz served 34 years and obtained the highest rank an enlisted sailor can achieve. He did four combat tours in Vietnam.

Also Saturday a special wreath-laying ceremony was conducted at the White County Veterans Memorial by Cindy Foster Grace, Regent, Tomochichi Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and Edwin Hendricks, Color Guard member Ron Hill, President, Joseph Habersham Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution  Gary Hoyt, Veterans Committee Chairman, Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution.    

Everyone is encouraged to fly the U.S. flag Monday in honor of those who served in the Vietnam War as a way of thanking them and their families for their sacrifices during one of the longest wars in U.S. history.
