(Helen)- In preparation for the upcoming municipal election in Helen, five of the six candidates seeking three vacant seats on the city commission participated in a candidate forum Tuesday night at the Holiday Inn and Express in Helen.
The forum was presented by the White County Chamber of Commerce and each of the candidates present was given an opportunity to make an opening and closing statement, they answered questions on how to deal with city issues like infrastructure, public safety, and growth.
Wayne Hardy Editor/Publisher for White County News was the moderator for the event.
The candidates who participated included Steve Brooks, Steve Fowler, Lee Landress, Linda McAllister, and Cinnamon Ruston. The sixth candidate Cliff Hood had a schedule conflict was not able to participate.

Early voting for the November 2nd election in Helen began on Monday and will continue weekdays through Friday, Oct. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Helen City Hall. There will be two Saturdays of voting, Oct. 16 and Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
Election Day voting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Helen City Hall.
The city of Cleveland early voting started Tuesday and continue weekdays through Friday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cleveland City Hall. There also will be early voting Saturdays, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at city hall.
Election Day voting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
