(Cleveland)- Georgia’s First Lady Sandra Deal made a couple of stops at White County Schools Thursday.   The first stop was at the White County  Head Start/ Pre-K   where she read to students, in the Pre-k  program.  Deal has been traveling all over the state during October in celebration of Georgia’s Pre-K month.  She said getting children to read early can mean so much to them later, “ because this is the key,  I belief,  to their future  and the development of their future, because children who get older  without having the reading skills  struggle and they become disappointed in themselves and their opportunities,” said Deal.

Working with the Pre-K children is a passion for the first lady who enjoys using her teacher skills to plant a seed for better learning, she says that needs to start early, she said, “ they really need to learn how to  read when their ready, which is often times at the age of four.”

Mrs. Deal also took time, while in White County,  to drop in at White County High School to congratulate them for earning a audio-video broadcasting grant from the governors office.  ESE Networks help implement the grants in the schools and Blake Coty,  Vice President  of Marketing for ESE said White County was one on 105 schools around the state to get a grant.

He said  the schools use the funds to start, or in White County’s case,  expand their current audio/Video broadcasting program. Coty said the equipment the schools get  can be a valuable learning tool for the students.  “ What this is allowing  these students to do is  have a skill set and hands on experience by the time they graduate from high school, they have the options or if they want to go ahead and get a job,  they’ll have that experience and skill set,” said Coty
