(AUGUSTA). – Five University of North Georgia women’s soccer players were named to the All-Peach Belt teams Friday afternoon as voted on by the league’s head coaches. Abbie Crane and Taylor Malasek were named to the first team, while Katey DerkayMaysoon El-Shami and Bailey Vessell were named to the second team.

Crane netted four goals and three assists during the spring season, starting all 10 games for the Nighthawks. The junior from Peachtree City, Georgia, had a season-high two goals against Francis Marion to jump start her season. The first team honor is the first time she has been named to an All-Conference team.

Malasek put up three goals and three assists in the spring 2021 campaign. The senior from Peachtree City, was named to the Preseason All-Conference team and earns her third All-Conference nod and her second appearance on the first team.

Derkay earns her second nod on the All-Conference second team in her career after leading UNG with five goals. The sophomore from Acworth, Georgia, also had an assist against Georgia Southwestern in the regular season finale.

El-Shami also earns her second All-Conference honor after a season where she scored a goal and four assists. The sophomore from Alpharetta, Georgia, was a Preseason All-Conference team member and a first teamer in 2019.

Vessell, a sophomore from Fayetteville, Georgia, started all 10 games on the back line for the Nighthawks, leading a defense that allowed just eight goals on the year, including six clean sheets. This is her first All-Conference honor of her career.
