lost found12/10/14    (Cleveland)- White County officials report a happy ending to an incident where a third grade student at White County Intermediate School was placed on the wrong  bus  and got off  at the wrong location late Tuesday and was the object of a search for a short time.

White County School Superintend Dr. Jeff Wilson said this was the first time that the student had attended the 21st  Century Program at the school and there was confusion about where she was to be dropped off, because of similar street names.  The student was let off the bus on Russell Street in the city of Cleveland, but the actual location should have been Russell Drive in the County.  Wilson said school officials, as part of their procedure,  contacted the home and the father said the mother was in the home to go ahead and let the child off the bus, not realizing it was at the wrong location .

Cleveland Police Chief John Foster said they received the call about the child at 6:20 PM and about an hour later they learned the child was safe at home.   Foster explained what happened, he said the child, who was 8 years old, realized that she was not at the right location so she walked to a house near Cleveland City Park and knocked on the door of a house.  Foster said, a man at the house helped the girl get in contact with her parents and even fed her supper while she was waiting on the parents to arrive.  Chief Foster said during that hour that they were looking for the child the citizens in the area of Russell and Dixon Streets  in the city came out and helped them walk the streets.

Dr. Wilson said they are currently reviewing their procedures to make sure a situation like this doesn’t happen again.
