Edward “Red” Velazquez, age 61, of Cleveland, left this Earth for his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

Mr. Velazquez was born on March 29, 1961, in Plattekill, New York, to the late Enrique and Gladys Cordero Velazquez.  Edward “Red” was a dedicated and loving father to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He was also a loving and caring husband to his wife and an amazing uncle.  He began playing the guitar at a very young age.  He entertained many people throughout his life with his musical talent.  Playing guitar was his passion.  Later in life, cooking became another passion he shared with others.  Red was a dedicated and outstanding police officer for 20 years.  He loved to help people and he will be missed by many. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Pontes, nephew, Daniel Charriez.

Survivors include his wife, Alisa Velazquez; children, Alexandria Velazquez, Edward Spencer Velazquez, Marshall Derrick Pontes, Diamond Gowan, and Nikki Brown; grandchildren, Brennen Wayne Ehrenfeld, Frances Catherine-Joy Valentine, Braden James-Ray Gowen, Cassidy Rushing, Jason Brown, and Toby Brown; brother, Henry Velazquez (Ida); sister, Gloria Charriez (George).

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.  The Rev. Phil Yarbrough will officiate.  Interment will follow in Gateway Memory Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
