Mr. Hill passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Habersham County on July 3, 1936, Mr. Hill was the son of the late James Walter B. and Sara Frances Bond Hill.  Mr. Hill attended Clarkesville High School and enlisted in the United States Army where he served during the Korean War.  Mr. Hill was retired from Scovill Fasteners where he started in tool and die and later was purchasing manager.  After retirement, Don spent most of his time with his family and traveling with his late wife, Jessie.  He was an avid fisherman and invented the weedless jig, later packaged by Zoom Bait Company.  Don had a servants heart, always thinking more of others than of himself.  He was always fulfilling a need of someone else.  Don and Jessie considered their nieces and nephews their children, especially their special niece, Heather; and their great nieces Madison and Abigail were treated like grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his wife Jessie Wendolyn Bowman Hill, sisters Margaret Hill Arrowood and Ann Hill Tallent and brothers Frank Hill, Hugh Hill and James Hill.

Survivors include brother David Verner Hill of Clarkesville, sisters Mary Ruth Hill Fuller of Stanley, North Carolina, Grace Hill Hill of Mt. Holly, North Carolina, Sandra Hill Meeks of Clarkesville, nieces and nephews: Ronnie Arrowood (Betty), Sue Bottoms (Ron), Tim Hill (Sheila), Kay Lisi (Steve), Donna Tench, Heather Taylor (Tim), Joe Hill (Lori), Brent Hill, Julie Bishop (Luther), and Brett Hill (Ashley), as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews, extended family and special friends.
