(Cleveland)- We continue to see the rate of new Coronavirus cases in White County decreasing, but the total number of cases continues to go up. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Georgia Department of Public Health reported that in White County the total number of confirmed cases is at 919, that’s an increase of 87 in the last two weeks, a much lower rate that just a couple of months ago. 

The number of people hospitalized as a result of the virus is 102 and the death toll is now 20. 

Reports from other surrounding counties; Hall County has 9,733 cases with 159 deaths, Habersham County 1,752, with  71 deaths, Lumpkin County 947 cases 14 deaths, Union County 834 cases and 21 deaths while Towns County has 369 cases and 10 deaths related to the virus. 

The weekly COVID-19 update from White County Schools Wednesday had 3 students reported positive with COVID, 42 students placed on quarantine for possible exposure.  One staff member reported positive and 5 staff members were placed on quarantine for possible exposure.
