image001_a(Cleveland)- The White County board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to serve on several boards or commissions in the county.   The commissioners have announced they need  people who care about their community and willing  to serve on the following:

 White County Board of Assessors: The appointee (1) must successfully complete 40 hours of approved appraisal courses through the Georgia Department of Revenue within six months of appointment and an additional approved 40 hour course within one year of appointment as set out by Georgia Law.  Appointee must be able to attend regularly scheduled meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 A.M. and also any called meetings throughout the course of the term.   The appointee must not be related to a member of the Board of Commissioners in any degree set out by Georgia law. The appointment will be for a three-year term to expire December 31, 2017.  White County Alcohol Beverage Commission: The appointees (3) must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, have been a resident of White County for at least one (1) year, not have been convicted under any federal, state, or local law (whether felony or misdemeanor, be qualified to vote in any White County election, in no way may be connected with the sale, storage, distribution or manufacture of alcoholic beverages, and be able to attend periodic meetings in order to review applications for alcohol license within the unincorporated area of White County. The appointment will be for a two- year term to expire January 30, 2017.

 White County YMCA Board: The appointees (2) must be able to attend meetings on the last Thursday of every other month at 4:30 p.m. at the White County Parks YMCA and will be working to promote and develop programs for the White County YMCA. This appointment will be for a one-year term expiring December 31, 2015.

 Joint Development Authority of White, Dawson, & Lumpkin Counties: The appointees (4) work in a collaborative effort with the multiple jurisdictions to guide the development of a region. This appointment will be a for a four (4) year term expiring December 21, 2018.

 White County Building Authority: The appointees (3) will be for a three (3) year term expiring December 31, 2017 or a one (1) year term expiring December 31, 2015 and will represent the White County Board of Commissioners in facilitating public projects of White County on an as needed basis.

 Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities:

The appointee (1) shall be a consumer of disability services, a family member of a consumer, an advocate of disability services, a local leader, or a business person with an interest in mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases. The appointee must be able to attend Board meetings on the second Thursday of every other month in Ball Ground, GA 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The DBHDD Board does provide a millage allowance for attending meetings. This appointment will be to fulfill a three year term to expire June 30, 2017.
