(Cleveland)- Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker released the following summary of officer activity for the week ending march 6th.

Officers responded to a business on Donald Thurmond Pkwy in reference to a belligerent patron. Upon arrival, the patron had already left the scene. |
Officers responded to a residence on Bryant Street in reference to a suspicious seen walking behind the buildings. No person matching the description was found. |

Officers responded to a residence on Mary’s Lane in reference to a suspicious male. The complainant stated that a male in a blue Honda pilot pulled in her driveway, got out of the vehicle and knocked on the door and the male began to take pictures of the house. (not the same description from Bryant Street). |

3/2/23 |
Officers responded to a residence on Spring Street in reference to fraudulent activities involving their bank accounts. An email was received stating monies would be withdrawn from an account that was no longer used. This person/scammer said that they were trying to put one hundred dollars back into the account but accidentally put ten thousand into the account. The scammer said he would be fired if he did not get the money back. The scammer asked them to withdraw nine thousand seven hundred and load them onto prepaid “Green Dot” cards and mail them to a known location. Initially, the “Green Dot” cards were sent by parcel service but were able to be stopped and the funds were recovered. |

Officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious person at a business on Donald Thurmond Parkway. The person was located and no action was needed or taken. |
Officers responded to an address on Campbell St. in reference to a suspicious person. The complainant said that a male was trying to gain entry into a nearby location. Upon arrival, it was determined that the person was permitted to be on the property and was no longer an issue. |

Officers received a call reporting that a vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of a business on Wilford Ash Parkway. Officers checked with the area towing services and it was realized that the business owner had the abandoned vehicle towed. |
Officers responded to a residence on Mountain Overlook for a domestic dispute. Parties were mediated and no action was needed or taken. |

Officers responded to an address on Campbell Street to assist a med unit with a possible forced entry for a medical call, the doors were unlocked and forced entry was not necessary. |

Officers responded to Head Ln in reference to a pit bull running at large. Officers located the dog and delivered it to the owner. The matter was referred to Animal control due to on- going issues with the dog and it being aggressive. |

Just a question on towed vehicles. Why not have any towing company advise the PD of the car, tah#, etc and from what location they are towing,/recovering the vehicle from. It was common practice when I worked in a PD as dispatcher. Saved time for officers responding to “stolen/missing cars”.
My in laws have been the victim of identity theft and the fraud you reported. I am more than happy to share the steps we had to learn first then take to make sure the thrives were stopped.
