(Cleveland)- Two veteran Cleveland Police officers have been promoted within the department.  The promotions were made during this week’s Cleveland City Council Meeting. 

Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker promoted Denton Vaughan and Wesley Addis to the rank of Sargent.  

Sgt. Vaughan is a 20-year law enforcement veteran who previously served with the Gainesville Police Department and the Flowery Branch Police before joining the Cleveland Police Department.  He served as a supervisor in both agencies and prior to those duties, Vaughan obtained the rank of Sargent in the United States Marine Corps.

Sgt. Addis is a 20-year veteran law enforcement officer who previously served with the Georgia Department of Revenue and Hiawassee Police Department.  His tenure with the Cleveland Police Department covers 18 years and most recently he served as the School Resource Officer for Jack P. Nix Elementary School and White County Middle School.

Chief Shoemaker said, “Both of these officers have demonstrated excellent leadership qualities and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their newly assigned positions.  The Cleveland Police Department is fortunate to have such a fine team of officers with a diverse background of training and experience.”
