HelenPD_patch(Helen)-  A 58-year old Cleveland man has been charged in connection with a  stabbing in Helen Saturday night.  Helen Police Chief Jim Couch in a news release Sunday morning said, at approximately 8:05 pm officers of the Helen Police Department were called to the scene of a  possible person stabbed at Monday’s Bar and Grill, located at 7934 South Main Street.  

Upon arrival, the Officers located an adult male with lacerations to his body. White County EMS arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he remains with what appears to be non-life threatening wounds.  

Chief Couch said, the  suspect was still on the scene and was arrested by Helen Police Department Officers. In the release Couch identified the suspect as 58-year old Leon Wayne Butler, of a Cleveland address.   He was later transported to the White County Detention Center and warrants are being obtained for Aggravated Assault.

Couch also said, It was determined that the incident was domestic in nature and was the results of an altercation that occurred at that address. The victim was last reported  in stable condition at the medical center.   

Couch advised that this incident is still being investigated.
