Liquor by the drink12-9-14(Cleveland)- The city of Cleveland is now ready to allow businesses within the city to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits on Sunday.   The city council Monday night approved amendments to their Alcoholic Beverages Ordinance  that sets the fees and times for the  Sunday sales as well as liquor by the drink sales.

 The new fee for Monday – Sunday sales is $1,300 dollars except,   Malt beverages and wine  for consumption on the premises and distilled spirits or spirituous  liquor for consumption on the premises, which is $2,600 each. 

Monday night was the second reading of the amendments and convenience store owner  Lamar “ Pinky” Black  attended the meeting and ask the council to consider lowering the new fee. He said, “ I’ve  got to sell $120 in beer that day (Sunday)  to even pay for my license. “   

The new regulations allow for Sunday alcohol  sales between 12:30 PM and 11:30 PM.  

The regulations are effective immediately, but businesses must obtain the new license before they can start the new sales.
