(Cleveland)- The Cleveland City Council has agreed to place three alcohol related questions on a ballot in November. During a special called meeting Monday night the council approved placing on the ballot questions: (1) related to liquor by the drink sales in the city, (2)beer and wine sales in the city on Sunday and (3) alcohol including liquor by the drink sales on Sunday. The vote by the council was unanimous.
Prior to the vote to place the items on the ballot councilman Bradley Greene read a statement in which he said, “ I have been very clear and steadfast on my position of distilled spirits sales and Sunday sales. I remain in opposition.”
Greene further stated that, “ I have never, and will never, oppose someone’s right to vote. Since the county does not allow distilled spirits, the city is mandated to put the issue to vote for the citizens of Cleveland.”
Greene said he will vote in favor of placing the questions on the ballot, but he will personally vote in opposition at the ballot box, he also said, “ I will not interfere with the citizens of Cleveland’s right to vote on this issue.“
