Claudette Price, 87, of Cleveland formerly of Blakely, left her earthly home in Cleveland, Ga. August 22, 2024 to be greeted into her heavenly home.
She was born December 12, 1936 to M.L. Lee and Nora Cate Lee in Gainesville, Ga. During her early childhood she lived with her maternal grandmother, Evelyn Pinson, who was the greatest influence in her life. At the age of ten, she relocated to Blakely, Ga. to live with her mother and beloved stepfather, Hoyle Fleming.
Claudette was a recognized leader and stellar student in her school and community. While attending high school, she was chosen to represent Blakely-Union High School at Georgia Girl’s State and was selected by the Blakely high school faculty for outstanding leadership and good citizenship. She served as a delegate of the American Legion Auxiliary and is a graduate of Blakely-Union High School.
After graduation from Huntingdon College, she taught at Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Ala. at which time, she was chosen by the Alabama Colleges and Universities in 1970 as Speech/Drama Teacher of the Year.
She had many careers, including manager of Horseshoe Bend Golf Club in Roswell, Ga. and 25 years as a medical transcriptionist. She was an avid golfer and bowler. Her love of flowers was well known at Whitehall Manor where her friends and neighbors enjoyed her beautiful garden.
Survivors include her son Mike Sansom (Melanie) of Atlanta, Ga; daughter Kim McCormick (Gerry) of Cumming, Ga; granddaughters: Kristen Schofield (Brandon) of Sautee Nacoochee, Ga., and Kelly Wise of Cumming, Ga; grandson Jonathan Sansom of San Francisco, Calif; great-grandsons: Brysan Schofield, and Braylan Schofield of Sautee Nacoochee, Ga.; brother Billy Fleming (Judy) of Panama City, Fla.; sister Violet Waldrip (Jack) of Gainesville, Ga.; nephews: Heath Fleming (Lenora) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Holden Fleming (Amber) of Headland, Ala.; niece Heather Fleming (Steph) of Scottsboro, Ala.; step-grandsons Cameron Sewall, Lee Sewall and Corey Sewall (Rebekah) of Atlanta, Ga.; and her Concord Mt. Yonah Baptist Church family; and dearest friends Joann and Johnny Daniel, Rachel Romfo of Cleveland, Ga. and her constant furry companion, Lily.
There will be no visitation. Celebration of her life will be at Concord Mt. Yonah Baptist Church on Helen Highway, Cleveland, Ga. at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024, with the Rev. Joseph Dockery officiating.
