(Cleveland)- White County Chamber of Commerce officials have been keeping a keen eye on the weather forecast for North Georgia as they look to Saturday night when the 39th annual Christmas in the Mountains Celebration & Lighted Parade is planned.

Chamber President Beth Truelove said the lighted parade through downtown Cleveland would be held no matter what the weather is.

Truelove said this should be an amazing parade with a total of 65 floats signed up.

As for the weather, the latest forecast does call for some showers early and midday Saturday, but the chance of showers is low for Saturday night with cloudy and cold conditions.

Activities are planned in downtown Cleveland from 5-8 pm, with the parade starting at J.P. Nix Elementary School at 7 PM.  Cleveland Police Department advises there will be an increased presence of law enforcement and other public safety officers in the area during the event.

Traffic will be diverted during the parade and detour routes will be marked. Parking will be prohibited in the Courthouse Square because that area will be blocked off for pedestrians, vendors, and other festivities.

Truelove says this popular community event is full of festive fun and features a Holiday Market on the Cleveland Courthouse Square, including Merry Merchants Open Houses.
