(Cleveland)- Darrel Chaney former Skylake resident, past member of the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves baseball teams, and inspirational motivational speaker is set to receive the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame’s Taz Anderson Service Award.  

Anderson was a former Georgia Tech All-American football player, he played for the St. Louis Cardinals and was on the first Atlanta Falcons team passed away in 2016. He was very successful in the real estate business and donated millions of dollars to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. The award honors a Georgian who has distinguished themselves through tireless and dedicated volunteer work and sports in the state of Georgia. 

After his baseball and broadcast career Chaney spent nearly 30 years as a corporate real estate agent. During that latter time, Chaney got involved in working with the United Way of White County and established a Celebrity Golf Tournament that now bears his name. The golf tournament plays a substantial part in the fundraising efforts of United Way of White County each year. 

Chaney, who now lives in  Hoschton, GA., will be presented the award during the 67th Annual sports hall of fame inductions ceremony this Saturday from 5:30 until 9 PM at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon.
