(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Education talked about gun at school during their meeting Thursday night. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson shared with the board the latest interpretation of the states new gun law. Dr. Wilson said no guns will be allowed in school buildings, “ any individual, even an individual that has a carry permit is not allowed to bring that gun on a school campus inside the building. That pickup and drop off has been interpreted a being in the car, so if they wear their weapon they can have it in the car, but they are to leave it in the car before they come inside the school building.”
Wilson said the new law doesn’t change anything for students, they are not allowed to have a gun even in their car on the campus.
The board approved the school weapons policy as well as they placed on the table, for review, a policy that would enable the board to allow teachers and administrators to have a weapon at the school.
Wilson said they have not agreed to do that at this time, but this policy would allow for that if they see fit.
