Billy Joe “Bill” Barden, age 90 of Cornelia, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019.
Born on November 14, 1928, in Cornelia, he was a son of the late Frank G. and Annie
Turpin Barden. Mr. Barden was a United States Army Korean War veteran and was
formerly employed with Perry Packing Company and Fleming Wholesale. He was a
member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Men’s
Sunday School Class. He was also a member and longtime Post Commander of the
Grant Reeves VFW Post # 7720, the American Legion Post # 84, the Cornelia Masonic
Lodge #92 F&AM, the former Optimist Club and was active in the Athletic Booster Club.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Barden;
brothers, James and Lee Barden; sisters, Claudine Tomlin, Louise Morgan, Mary Ann
Caudell and Lena McGahee.

Survivors include wife of 67 years, Jane Porter Barden of Cornelia; daughter and son-
in-law, Patsy and Robert Bell of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Tammy
Barden of Cornelia; daughter-in-law, Janice Barden of Cornelia; grandchildren, Jenna
Barden, Drew Barden, Brett Barden, Patrick Bell, Peyton Bell, Jackson Bell, T.J. Barden
and Brooks Barden; brother, Dan Barden of Orville, Ohio; sister, Doris Goldman of
Jackson Mississippi; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are 11 am Monday, October 14, 2019 at Cornelia United Methodist
Church with Pastor Johnny Ray and Mr. Stanley Terrell officiating. Interment will follow
in Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Sunday
at the funeral home.
