Alvin Eugene Bryan, affectionately called Pa or Papa, 83 of Murrayville passed away on September 3rd 2024.
Alvin was born June 15, 1941, in his Hall County home. “Dosie,” as known by many, grew up learning about pumps from his dad, Milton. He was fearless when it came to going down in a well. If you had a water problem, he was your guy! In his younger days he could be found at Pierce’s store getting the local gossip. He loved Nascar, fishing, bluegrass music and all things Ford. If you parked anything other than a Ford in his driveway, you would definitely hear about it. He and his wife Patsy attended bluegrass festivals frequently. Rhonda Vincent, his favorite bluegrass artist, nicknamed him “the candyman,” because he always brought her homemade peanut brittle from peanuts he grew himself. If you didn’t know that peanuts grew in the ground, he would give you a lesson you’d never forget!
Alvin attended Mt. Zion Baptist church most of his life and recently gave his life to the Lord! His family and friends couldn’t be more proud!
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Bryan; parents Milton and Imogene Bryan; brothers Hartwell, Wayne, and David Bryan; and sisters Norma Jean Dockery and Elaine Anthony.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ben Burford; grandchildren Jackson, Carter, and Bella Burford; honorary daughter Melissa Nichols; brothers and sisters-in-law Lee and Charlotte Bryan; and Jerry and Barbara Bryan.
His family would like to thank special friends Shirley Pace, Wylene Grindle, and Upton Abercrombie for their many visits and outings with Alvin while he has been in an assisted living home.
A special thanks goes to Laurel Lodge Assisted Living and Northeast Georgia Hospice for the loving care Alvin received. The Laurel Lodge staff and residents truly treated Alvin like family.
