(Cleveland)- The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Weather Advisory for north Georgia from 5 PM this afternoon until 10 AM Wednesday.  The Wind Chill remains in effect from 9 PM this evening until 8 AM Thursday.  Forecasters say snow is expected along with very cold wind chills. Plan on slippery road conditions.  

Total snow accumulations up to one inch are expected. Wind chills will range from zero to 5 above zero.   Winds will become strong and gusty Wednesday with northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph gusting to 25 to 30 mph.  Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

With the predicted winter weather White County schools have canceled all after school student activities  Tuesday, January 16th, that includes all sports games and 21st Century program.   

All UNG campuses will close today ( Tuesday)  at 5:30 p.m.  Jan.16 and remain closed until 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17th.  All classes and activities during the closure time are canceled.  The administration of the University of North Georgia is monitoring the weather situation throughout the region and will re-evaluate the weather and road conditions Wednesday morning to determine whether UNG campuses can safely re-open

All Lanier Technical College campuses will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16. All afternoon classes (including those that begin at 4:30 p.m.) and evening classes are canceled.
