AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of North Georgia women’s golfer Alexis Whitney was named the Peach Belt Conference golfer of the week as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
Whitney opened the 2019-20 season with a second-place finish at the Full Moon Invitational, hosted by Montevallo. The senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, fired rounds of 76 and 71 for a five-over 147, just three strokes out of the lead. Her second-round 71 was a personal best and moved her up 10 spots on the leaderboard from round one. It was also the second-lowest round of the day. Whitney’s efforts helped the Nighthawks to a second-place finish in the eight-team field.
This is Whitney’s first weekly honor of her collegiate career.
The Nighthawks will be back in action at the DBU Classic September 23-24.
