(Cleveland)- The National Weather Service has revised our weather outlook by issuing a Winter Storm Warning that is in effect from 10 PM Saturday evening until 1 AM Monday.  With this change, forecasters say heavy mixed precipitation is expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches and ice accumulations around three-tenths of an inch. Some sleet may also occur.   Winds will gust to as high as 35 mph.

The area affected is portions of north central and northeast Georgia, mainly north and east of a line from Blairsville to Dawsonville to  Gainesville to Homer. The heaviest snow accumulations will occur at elevations above 2500 feet.

Weather officials say while temperatures near the ground will be at or just below freezing, significant ice accumulation on trees and power lines are likely. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Heavy wet snow may also lead to downed tree limbs and additional power outages. Visibility may drop to less than one-half mile during periods of heavy snow. Plan on slippery road conditions especially on bridges and overpasses.

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

Along with the Winter Storm Warning forecasters, we are under a FLOOD WATCH  now through Sunday evening and a WIND ADVISORY is in effect from 6 PM this evening until noon Sunday. Northeast winds will be  15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
