Sports – The White County Warriors took on the Marist War Eagles last night in Region play of High School Varsity Basketball.

The Lady Warriors may be 14 and 6 and 2nd place in region play, however, it was the War Eagles who took the early lead versus the Lady Warriors last night extending that lead by twenty points at the end of the first half, 37 to 17 Marist.  White County came back in the second half and by the fourth period the Warriors were fighting their way back trying to gain the lead, and at one point they were only 2 possessions away from tying it up. However, it was a little too late and Marist took the victory over the Lady Warriors 51 to 45.

The action was almost mirrored in the first period of the boys’ game as Marist was off to an early lead and was able to maintain that lead throughout the entire first half.  There was not much change in the 3rd period with the War Eagles maintaining a seven-point lead. The 4th period saw Marist gain a double-digit difference over the Warriors, and were able to hold on to their lead giving the victory to the War Eagles 46 to 30 over White County.

The Warriors will return to the court on Friday to take on West Hall with the preshow beginning at 6:45 pm and the tip-off for the girls’ game at 7 pm.  UGA Bulldog Basketball is on WRWH tomorrow taking on Tennessee. 6:35 pregame show and tip-off at 7 pm on your home of the Warriors and the Bulldogs, WRWH.
