DAHLONEGA – Deana Blankinship recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards as the University of North Georgia women’s basketball team improved to 4-1 with a 75-49 win over Barton Saturday afternoon in the final game of the UNG Nighthawk Classic.

The Bulldogs led at 4-3 with 8:14 left before the Nighthawks went on a 16-0 run over the next six minutes to take a 19-4 lead. The Nighthawks led by as many as 29 points before the game ended.

NOTES
– Blankinship’s double-double was the first of the season for the senior and the fourth of her Nighthawk career.

– Barton’s Alex Kimble led all scorers with 31 of the Bulldogs’ 49 points. Amber Skidgel led UNG in the scoring column with 19 points on 7-10 shooting, including five made three-pointers.

– Julianne Sutton and Vanessa Agrusa finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Nighthawks had 10 players put at least a point on the board in the game.

– The Nighthawks continued their dominance in the paint, outscoring the Bulldogs, 38-18, inside the lane.

– Carson-Newman defeated Georgia College, 115-73, in the third game of the classic.

UNG has some time off before their next game in two weeks when they open up Peach Belt Conference play at home against Francis Marion on December 2. Tip time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
