SALISBURY, N.C. – Megan Sabol sits in a tie for third after an opening-round 71 as the University of North Georgia women’s golf team is in seventh place after the first round of the Patsy Rendleman Invitational Monday at the Country Club of Salisbury.

Sabol carded five birdies, including three on the back nine, to finish at one-under for the round, two strokes behind Lenoir-Rhyne’s Abbey Hartsell. Sabol went bogey-free on her final nine holes of the day.

The Nighthawks shot a 306 in the opening round. No. 19 Limestone leads the tournament after shooting a three-under 285. Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke are tied for second, seven strokes off the pace. Anderson and Young Harris round out the top five.

Carson Roberts is tied for 21st after the opening 18 holes, shooting a 76 on the day.

The Nighthawks will wrap up tournament play tomorrow.
