LEXINGTON, Va. – Ahead of the SoCon Championship, the No. 19 University of North Georgia rifle team claimed all three medals in both disciplines at Sectionals, defeating VMI in SoCon action in the process.

In the smallbore discipline, Dakota Spivey led all shooters with a 577 to claim the gold. Kimberlee Nettles shot a personal best 565 to claim silver, while Tobin Sanctuary used a 564 to grab the bronze.

In air rifle, Nettles earned goal with a 587, beating Spivey by just one point for the top spot. Ruthanne Conner claimed the bronze with a score of 584 where she shot no less than 97 in any of the six strings. Hannah Peevy also shot a personal best of 566 in her final collegiate match.

Lucas Gilliland also earned some hardware, claiming the silver medal in the ROTC air rifle division, shooting a 574 in the discipline.

Now, the Nighthawks will focus on defending their Southern Conference Championship when they travel to The Citadel to compete. The event starts on March 3 in Charleston, South Carolina.
