TAMPA, Fla. – The University of North Georgia men’s tennis team won their third match in four days as they took down Florida Southern, 5-2, Wednesday.

The pairings of Niklas Zielen and Jess Jones and Ryan Gaskin and Hugues Renaud took care of the doubles point, dropping just one game between them. The No. 1 pair clinched the point following their 6-1 win to retain their unbeaten streak.

Jones moved to 3-0 on this road trip in singles play and 10-1 overall following his 6-3, 6-2 victory; this saw UNG take a 2-0 lead on the day. The Nighthawks were made to work for it, however, as Gaskin dropped his first singles match of the year, 5-7, 2-6. Zielen and Renaud showed a great deal of grit to carry the men home with Zielen clinching the match at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win.

The Nighthawks’ last match of the road trip is tomorrow as they battle Bluefield State at 9 a.m. Thursday. UNG will look to move to 11-1 on the year.
