DAHLONEGA – Shaquan Cantrell led the Nighthawks with a season-high 30 points, but after forcing overtime, the University of North Georgia men’s basketball team was unable to outscore Belmont Abbey in the extra frame, falling 89-87 Wednesday night in Memorial Hall. The Nighthawks are now 1-2 on the season.

In a game that saw 13 lead changes and neither team lead by more than seven, Belmont Abbey led by three with eight seconds left in regulation. Ephraim Tshimanga drove to the basket and kicked out to Bennett Fuzak who hit the game-tying three-pointer as time expired to force overtime.

In the extra period, neither team shot the ball well, but the Crusaders’ DeQuan Abrom hit a three-pointer with a minute left to take the lead for good.
