DAHLONEGA – Josh Cottrell and Zez Steeple each scored 17 points to lead all scorers as the University of North Georgia men’s basketball team defeated Georgia College, 90-80, to get back to .500 overall Saturday afternoon.
Georgia College took an early lead and stretched their lead to 10-6 before North Georgia went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good. The Nighthawks got the lead out to 69-43 with 7:30 to play before the Bobcats started scoring from beyond the arc. The Bobcats went 8-for-12 from beyond the arc in the final 7:30 of the game, cutting the lead to as few as eight, but UNG had enough answers down the stretch to finish the game with the 10-point advantage. NOTES – North Georgia shot nearly 52 percent from the floor and held Georgia College to just 38 percent shooting. – The Nighthawks had a +17 rebound margin.
