AMERICUS, Ga. – In a game that saw 29 runs and 35 hits, the University of North Georgia baseball team fell to Georgia Southwestern, 15-14, in 10 innings Sunday in the Peach Belt series finale.

UNG jumped out to an 8-0 lead through a half inning, capped by a Bill LeRoy two-RBI single, but the Hurricanes got six of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning. Conner Corbitt got two runs back for the Nighthawks in the second on a single up the middle to make the score 10-6.

After GSW scored an unearned run in the third, North Georgia used an RBI groundout and a Chase Sudduth RBI single to stretch the lead back out to five. The ‘Canes scored the next five runs, however, starting with two in the fourth before tying the game in the fifth, 12-12.

UNG scored twice more, once in the sixth and once in the eighth to take a 14-12 lead, but GSW mounted a comeback, getting a two-out triple in the ninth inning to tie the game and then a RBI double in the 10th to win the game.

NOTES
– Both teams went deep in their pitching staffs early, having to use a combined 13 pitchers in the game.

– LeRoy finished the day 4-for-7 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored.

UNG will take on Emmanuel in mid-week action Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Bob Stein Stadium.
