(GRAYSON, Ky. ) – The Truett McConnell University men’s soccer team picked up a strong Appalachian Athletic Conference win at Kentucky Christian University (4-0) on Saturday afternoon, improving the Bears to 4-6-3, 3-2-2 AAC on the year.
 
TMU compiled a total of 22 shots, 12 on goal, in comparison to the Knights’ six total shots.
 
In the 16th minute of the game, sophomore Trevor Fick received a pass from Javier Rodriguez and went 1v1 with KCU’s goalkeeper to finish the Bears’ first goal of the game, Fick’s fourth goal of the season (1-0). 15 minutes later, Rodriguez scored a goal himself on a penalty kick to put TMU at a two-goal cushion at halftime (2-0).
 
One minute into the second half, Fick crossed the ball to the feet of Dylan McKendry inside the box, which allowed McKendry to tap in his first goal of the season (3-0). Fick netted the fourth and final goal of the game, assisted by McKendry, in the 49th minute (4-0), which proved to put the game out of reach for the Knights.
 
Fick led with seven shots, four on goal, while McKendry followed with five, three on goal. Rodriguez added three shots. Senior Evan Gaffney earned four saves on the day.
 
Up next, the Bears are set to host Point University on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
