CLEVELAND,  – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2019 NAIA Wrestling National Championships qualifiers on Tuesday evening and junior Jacob Matheson of the Truett McConnell University wrestling team appeared on that list.

Preseason ranked No. 19, Matheson (at 184) finished runner-up in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday after falling to the No. 1 wrestler in the country, Antonio Stewart. Matheson has recorded an overall season record of 16-11.

“I’m so happy for Jacob getting an opportunity to represent our university on the national stage,” Head Coach Jonathan Jackson said. “A lot of people do not get this opportunity – now he has to make the most of it.”

The 62 annual national championships are on Friday, March 1 through Saturday, March 2 in Des Moines, Iowa, at the Jacobson Exhibition Center.
