(GRAYSON, Ky.)– The Truett McConnell University women’s soccer team, who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA national top 25 poll, won their ninth straight game at Kentucky Christian University (6-0), which was also TMU’s seventh Appalachian Athletic Conference shutout of the season. The Lady Bears improved to 12-1, 9-0 AAC on the year.
 
TMU recorded a total of 27 shots, 17 on goal, while the Knights were unable to tally one shot throughout the 90 minutes of regulation.
 
Sophomore Mackenzie Taylor attempted a cross, which ended up going over the head of KCU’s goalkeeper into the net, after a through ball from fellow sophomore Sydney Leauge in the first four minutes of the game (1-0). In the 15th minute, freshman Madison Wright attempted a shot that hit off the crossbar and junior Jessica Lanier rebounded to net TMU’s second goal of the day (2-0).
 
After halftime, a through ball from the feet of Davis allowed freshman Ashleigh Smitherman to score her first collegiate goal (3-0). Five minutes later, Wright was capable of scoring a goal of her own after Lydia William’s shot deflected off the hands of KCU’s goalkeeper (4-0). Williams, however, finished off the far post to score her sixth goal of her sophomore campaign eight minutes later (5-0) after a through ball from League. Sophomore Kaitlynn Baumgart rounded out TMU’s points for the day with her first collegiate goal. Baumgart finished a header on a corner taken by freshman Nadia Basto in 75th minute of the game (6-0).
 
Williams led with six shots, five on goal, while Silverman followed with four shots, two on goal. Wright and fellow freshman Sophia Kay added three shots apiece.
 
Up next, TMU will return home to the TMU Soccer Complex on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 1:00 p.m., when they host Point University.
