(BLUFIELD, Va.) – The Truett McConnell University women’s basketball team traveled to Bluefield College for their third Appalachian Athletic Conference game of the season. The Lady Bears (3-2, 1-2 AAC) fell 62-43 in regulation to the Rams (3-7, 3-3 AAC) on Saturday afternoon.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
Sophomore Re’Tavia Floyd started TMU out with two 3-pointers, and Quan Holton and Sierra Kendall’s back-to-back buckets put the Lady Bears out front by six points five minutes into the game. However, the Rams were capable of pulling out front for good after closing the first quarter on a 13-2 scoring run (14-19).

Bluefield maintained their lead heading into halftime (26-33). It only took TMU one minute to get back within one point in the third quarter (32-33), but the Rams were capable of getting out front by 14 heading into the fourth (37-51) and the Lady Bears were unable to fully recover.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“The start of the game we were fine on our execution,” Head Coach Tiek Fields said. “But we didn’t get clean stops and gave up too many second chance shots. The last five or six minutes in the third quarter put us in a hole that we couldn’t get out of. It’s still early in the season and we will get better.”

LEADERS
Kendall led all scorers with 21 points, while adding seven rebounds and one block. Floyd followed with 12 points. Sydney Rumble was credited three assists and Holton had six rebounds.
