(MONTREAT, N.C. – The Truett McConnell University women’s volleyball team won the first set at Montreat College, but dropped sets 2-4 on Saturday afternoon (25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 16-25), which moved the Lady Bears to 12-15, 8-8 AAC on the season.
 
TMU started out hot immediately in the first set earning the first seven points of the game (7-0) and maintained a strong lead on the Cavaliers the rest of the way. A freshman Ranavia Neal kill secured the Lady Bears’ lone win of the day (25-20). After 6-6 in the second set, Montreat pulled out ahead of TMU and pushed to lead by as much as eight points. TMU came within two points (20-22) but the Cavs ultimately won the set in 46 rallies.
 
Game three saw Montreat get out front after 12 apiece, and TMU was never capable of gaining the lead. Most notable in game four, the Cavs ended up leading by as many as nine points (11-20) and the Lady Bears were never able to recover.
 
Sophomore Bethany Ross led the offense with 16 kills, adding nine digs, while Neal followed with 10 kills, and seniors Madison Curtis and Harris Anne Walker had eight apiece. Curtis also led with five blocks and Neal added three. Junior Abby Maxwell nabbed another double-double of 38 assists and 11 digs, while Hannah Lee led defensively with 16 digs.
